Hurray for another blog post! It feels like I always wanted to write something the past days because of you lovely readers! You all inspire me, and because of that, I want to share with you scrumptious dishes we had at the Scheveningse (district) Pier, The Netherlands. The same day that we went to the park of miniature Holland in the same district which is called Madurodam. I have a separate post for that but still on queue, expect it before the year ends. (I am serious. -.-)

Winter time is already here. In fact, it already started to snow in France early this week. Well, I just mentioned that. It is not even connected to this post. *grin*
Anyways, we started with a sip of hot tea. It was nice to have something warm to soothe and rejuvenate/activate our energy. After that, we had these Dutch Croquettes called Bitterballen (which means Croquette in English, so yeah, let's just stick to Croquette, it means the same anyways). It comes with potato chips, and very crunchy from the outside and soft and gooey in the inside, but of course not chocolaty gooey, it is meat). I cannot tell exactly how it taste like, but it is okay. (There is this dutch snack I like better, it is also a croquette but cylindrical, it's called Kroket.) I had a little confusion about the menu of the restaurant, but understandable still. Since it is originally written in Dutch, some words puzzled us.
For the main course, we had those in their Luxury Meat Rolls category. Let us begin with their Bread Rolls Palace. It is a Beef Carpaccio served with Parmesan cheese, sun-dried tomato, pine nut (with vegetable on top) and truffle mayonnaise. It is good enough to be called as a palace, but not high enough to be one.

The next one is the Fried Eggs on Bread Salmon. Fried eggs on bread, salmon with bacon, onion, cherry tomato and cheese (don't forget the salad on the side!). This is the least of my pick. It is okay but yes, I prefer the last dish.

Last but not the least was this Lighthouse, a combination of warm ham of the bone with fried mushroom and onions (with extra salad of green and red). The meat and mushroom blends their taste really well, and I so like it. Sharing is not in my dictionary anymore. Let's be selfish sometimes. (Kidding!)
That was an awesome lunch we had there. Though not in the pier itself, we had a very nice view of the place. There were not that much people around because it was a very cold afternoon.

Oh, it was not the end of the meal yet. We also had this Dutch sweet after eating, but not considering it as a dessert. I could not remember how it was called but I think it is its name itself, Hojes. A coffee and caramel flavor infused in this tiny candy is a nice meal ender.

I did enjoyed every single bite and I am happy to try new dishes like such. Dutch cuisine is really surprising. Their meals are totally peculiar to me, but I love them!
Time did not allow me to discover everything and now I have reasons to keep on coming back. They still have lots of stuff to offer. Also, I haven't tried the hubs inside the pier itself. And oh, the Ferris wheel is a nice idea too!
